‘THE MEDIA LOUNGE’
Medlo started life as The Media Lounge; a rogue AV unit that was the perfect release for our creative skullduggery and encyclopedic knowledge of obscure VHS content.
Each month we would present to our loyal Sheffield audience a 2 hour show of music videos, short films, sketches, animations and our special brand of bootleg mash-ups. The night was a great success and soon we moved into two weekly residencies in London, meaning we were creating and screening upto 35 hours of content each month.
The shows expanded into a live VJing unit where created visuals for nightclubs, DJ's and music artists. We appeared with crowdfilling VJ slots at such festivals as the Big Chill, Cybersonica and even a special West End cinema screening as part of the Raindance International Film Festival.
During this time we also curated the popular Media Lounge Presents... seris of shows where we screened rare, unseen or unreleased movies - bringing a few UK premieres to the line up as well.
After 4 intensive and expensive years we closed shop on our live appearences, chosing to focus more on client work. We occasionally still play live with old collaborators 65daysofstatic, or at specially commissioned festivals. Most recently we have been curating the TV station for neo-rave armageddon event Bangface.
There's a wealth of Media Lounge archive material on a special page at the Medlo blog, featuring posters, programmes and press.
If you are interested in hosting a Media Lounge performance or would like to talk about a project please get in touch.
